Things to do on Staten Island

Make Staten Island a destination rather than only a return sailing. Choose the north-shore culture route or a separate park day, allowing time for onward travel.

Big harbor views beside old coastal defenses.

Ferry, then choose your next stop

The free Staten Island Ferry reaches St. George. Continue to the Greenmarket on its operating day, or plan onward travel to Snug Harbor’s grounds and museum attractions.

Harbor history or a woodland day

Fort Wadsworth offers an outdoor harbor overlook. Clove Lakes and the Greenbelt provide different walking terrain; use the route map rather than combining distant parks into one rushed visit.

Before you go

Can I stay on the ferry for the return trip?

No. You must leave the vessel at the terminal before boarding a return sailing. Check NYC DOT service alerts.

Is everything at Snug Harbor free?

No. The grounds and general gardens are free; the Chinese Scholar’s Garden, museum, and other attractions have separate admission rules.
